Music and Your RV Memories…
Music has this profound way of bringing back memories and reminding us of a time when we were listening, singing, and driving. I remember the day we totalled our trailer 20 years ago and what we were listening to the very moment we had our accident…(“Kiss from a Rose” by Seal). The Bizarre thing is that our Kids are adults now and they too have a special connection to that Seal Album, almost like it’s printed on their memories…
I also remember being a kid watching my late Dad negotiate the road en-route to our annual vacation. It was late at night and my Dad had six “8 Track tapes”. I clearly remember him tapping his fingers gently on the steering wheel while Neil Diamond was belting out “Cracklin Rosie”.
Let’s have some fun!!
20 years later we have started RV’ing/Caravaning a second time around and there are songs and playlists (…not 8 Track tapes…bwahahaha) that we play while towing, and at our camp sites. Often one hears other RV’ers music usually in the distance and I cannot help but think about the significance of the songs they’re playing
and what memories and feelings they evoke. One time we were at a National Park and a Family were playing their music very loud. While I don’t condone this behaviour in any way, I turned off my music to enjoy their fantastic list of extremely “Salsa-able” Cuban beats. At this stage of the evening I had enjoyed my 3 beverage maximum and found my hips doing a Salsa across our outdoor mat….I guess my point is that as unacceptable as their loud music was, my wife and I often chat about that night.
